Head Turner Leech Fly Tying Recipe and Video

Here we have a simple balanced leech using a tungsten Head Turner bead from Pro-Tyer. These beads make tying a balanced fly super easy as there is no pin needed. Flies like this are a must-have in my boxes. I’ve used this fly and slight variations with equal success while stripping and retrieving in moving water and when I hang them under an indicator on the Stillwaters. Now is a great time to fish a pattern like this if you are heading to the lakes!

Hook: Ahrex FW555 Mini Jig Hook, Size 14

Thread: Uni Thread 8/0 Olive

Bead: Pro-Tyer Tungsten Head Turner Bead, 7/64”, Matte Olive

Tail: Nature’s Spirit Fish Hunter Marabou, Medium OliveHareline Krystal Flash, UV

Body: Arizona Diamond Dub, Light Olive

I have always tied jig hooks with a clinch knot to keep them horizontal but thanks for showing that it swims nicely with a loop knot. Cheers
