Powder Damsel Fly Tying Tutorial

The Powder Damsel is quite a basic fly in terms of its materials list, but don’t let that fool you, it’s an excellent imitation of a damselfly nymph. It can easily be modified for different lakes by changing the colour of the marabou, which makes up much of the fly. My understanding is that the name “Powder Damsel” comes from the old Powder Keg in Merritt, BC, a shop that was around years ago. It was always a great spot to stop by when I was in the area for a little intel, and they had some patterns that have been long-time staples in my box. I get excited when I see that damselflies are on the menu at any lake. My intermediate line comes out, I anchor in the shallows, strip towards shore, and anticipate a good take!
