Limewire Jig Fly Tying Tutorial

This buggy jig fly started out as a modern Carey inspired pattern, but the finished result really leans more toward a caddis pupa style fly than a traditional searching pattern.

The Limewire Jig combines a peacock body, subtle lime segmentation, rusty hotspot, and sparse pheasant rump collar to create a buggy profile with a lot of movement in the water. The colour combination and overall shape give it a really convincing caddis pupa look while still maintaining enough contrast to grab attention.

Tied on a size 8 jig hook, this fly fishes well on a slow retrieve, under an indicator, or anytime trout are keyed in on caddis pupae.
