Steelhead Parr Fly Tying Tutorial

The Steelhead Parr pattern is an excellent choice for spring fishing, as it mimics the young fish migrating from rivers to the ocean to continue their life cycle. While steelhead are the primary target for this fly, other salmonid species that prey on smaller fish often can’t resist it either. It’s unclear whether steelhead strike this fly because they’re irritated by the abundance of juveniles,  if it is just their "trouty" behaviour showing in the Spring or if they are trying to reduce the competition. What I do know is they like to munch this fly! I will tie this in an olive variation as well, especially if I am fishing for Char.
