In this fly-tying tutorial, a Purple Flash Perdigon is tied using a simple combination of materials that create an incredibly effective trout nymph.
Inspired by the popular Gasolina Perdigon, this pattern was developed using substitute materials that were already available at the tying bench. The result is a slim, flashy nymph that sinks quickly and gets into the strike zone fast.
The Purple Flash Perdigon is an excellent choice for trout fishing throughout late summer and fall. It can be fished under an indicator, on a Euro nymphing setup, or as part of a multi-fly rig. The combination of a purple body, subtle flash, and bright orange hotspot makes it a great searching pattern when trout are feeding on small aquatic insects.
