How-To Tie A Blended Thread Body Chironomid

Chironomid larvae can undergo pupation with various colours on their bodies. A commonly noted variation is a bug with a red butt, which is a result of leftover hemoglobin from the larval stage. You can also imitate insects with a lighter colour at the fly's rear that smoothly transitions to a darker shade toward the head. Skillfully blending tying threads is the key to achieving this effect. In this video, I'll demonstrate how you can easily create this look.
