Tyee Terror Fly Tying Tutorial

The Tyee Terror is one of our favourite pink salmon flies that we carry here at the shop, especially for river fishing. This is not just a fly for pink salmon, it has its place in our box for coho as well and can be effective for other species too.

We’ve slightly modified the original pattern by adding some Hareline UV Micro Polar Chenille in the body to give it a little extra “bling.” We typically fish this fly with a sink tip and swing it down and across in the river. In slower water, stripping this fly can also be very effective.

We usually tie it in size 6 or size 8, and we like the bubble-gum pink version as well as darker cerise. Chartreuse and orange are also productive colours, and you can mix and match to create your own custom version.
