A nice “dry fly eat” on your favourite stream is pretty tough to beat. If I have to fish for them sub-surface, there is a pretty good chance you will see a stonefly nymph on my line. The bites can be surprisingly aggressive and a well-presented pattern such as this Summer Stone can be a hard thing for even a wary trout to refuse. I primarily fish this pattern in black, brown and a golden variation. An olive-coloured version of this fly can be very effective at times too.
