Phil’s Fork-Tail Devil Fly Tying Tutorial

Phil Rowley has developed countless patterns that excel in our stillwater fisheries, and we routinely take inspiration from the flies he ties. The Fork-Tail Devil is a great bloodworm pattern that's extremely versatile in how it can be fished.

Fish it under an indicator, naked on a floating line, or with a slow retrieve on a sink tip or full sinking line. It's also easy to modify to imitate the different colours of chironomid larvae we encounter. A green rib, or even a green tail with a red body, are favourites of ours as well.

If you're finding bloodworms in your throat samples, it's time to get a Fork-Tail Devil down near the mud and see if you can entice a bite.
