Hook: Tiemco 5262 #8
Thread: UTC Black 140
Tail 1: Black Woolly Bugger Marabou
Tail 2: Fluorescent Chartreuse Rabbit Strip
Flash (Tail): Emerald Green Flashabou
Butt: Ice Dub Caddis Green
Rubber Legs: Barred Fluorescent Green Silli Legs
Body: Arizona Simi Seal Black
Bead: Nymph Head Caddis Green Brass (or Tungsten) 7/64
Step 1 – Place your bead on the hook before clamping it in the vise, and lay down a base of your black thread.
Step 2 – Take a decent sized end piece of your black woolly bugger marabou, and tie in a tail section.
Step 3 – Next, cut a small section of your chartreuse rabbit and tie it in over top of your black marabou tail section so that it is half the length of your tail.
Step 4 – Take 2 strands of emerald flashabou and tie in 1 strand on both sides of the tail.
Step 5 – Using a dubbing loop, spin a small clump of Caddis Green Ice Dub as a butt section of the fly, and wrap it around the hook. Tie it off. Begin to pluck out the fibres using a bodkin or dubbing brush to flare back the fibres into the tail section.
Step 6 – Take one section of your silli legs, and lay one leg on either side of the fly and tie it down. Trim the legs down fairly short so that they stick out away from the fly.
Step 7 – Making a dubbing loop, take your black smi seal dubbing and spin in in the loop, plucking it out and flaring the fibres to make them longer. Begin to wrap the dubbing on the hook while maintaining a good profile with the dubbing so that it’s fibres are flared back and have a good profile so that it will create a good amount of movement.
Step 8 – Finish the fly off with a whip finisher or half-hitch, and head cement the head.
Step 9 – Get out there and catch some fish with it!
