ASB Backed Herl Mayfly Nymph Fly Tying Tutorial

Chironomids aren't the only insects in our stillwaters that can have that “gassy” shiny appearance. Mayflies can too. This pattern uses a strip of ASB (Anti Static Bag) over the back and for the wing case. The shine that this gives the pattern can help it stand out in a big hatch or, if the insects haven’t reached that “gassy” stage, as they ascend the water column to emerge. Add this one to your box for this season and see how it works for you!
