With winter cold setting in, it’s a perfect time to review one of our favorite cold weather clothing pieces, the Patagonia Nano Puff Jacket.
The Nano Puff is constructed in an environmentally-friendly way, utilizing 100% post-consumer polyester with P.U.R.E (Produced Using Reduced Emissions) technology and Fair Trade Sewn.
We always like to compare wearing a Nano Puff to wrapping yourself up in a warm comfy sleeping bag. The ability of the incredibly thin 60g Primaloft liner to keep you warm is truly amazing. Gone are the days of wearing many thick layers to keep you warm during freezing temperatures.
A big advantage of reduced layers is the increased comfort when out on the water. You feel less restricted and have better movement.
If you’re looking for a hoody, check out the Patagonia Nano Puff Hoody.
Another bonus is how compact you can make this jacket. When not being worn, it’s very easy to stuff into a vest or boat bag.
On a cold day, one of the things that can really get to you is the wind. A constant light breeze can eventually chill you to the bones. This is not something you will need to worry about with a Nano Puff Jacket as they offer great protection from the wind.
Another big highlight of these jackets is their water resistance. Now, this doesn’t mean that they are a rain jacket, but they do keep you dry if you get caught in a bit of a rain shower. The Nano Puff also dries incredibly quickly, given the fact that it doesn’t absorb water and is made from synthetic materials.
Wearing a Nano Puff as a layer underneath a rain jacket is another good option, no matter how good a rain jacket you may have. When it’s really raining, water seems to find a way to sneak past the rain jacket, through an open front zipper or if you’re holding your arm up vertically. This is common when drift fishing. So, this extra layer of water protection is great to have.
The hands down conclusion of our Patagonia Nano Puff Jacket Review is if you fish in any kind of colder temperatures like in the Spring, Fall or Winter you’ll want one. It will quickly become your favourite jacket. We know from our own personal experience of owning them.
