Modern Steelhead Fly Tying – Classic Low Water Flies is a course geared towards tying the flies that we would commonly use in low water situations for Steelhead and Salmon along the coast of Vancouver Island and the mainland. Many of our coastal streams see returns of summer Steelhead along with various salmon species, Cutthroat Trout and Dolly Varden Char. These Summer and early Fall fisheries offer a great situation to utilize the Scandi Spey casting style or the West Coast Spey. The flies we tie during this class are designed to cast easy on a floating line or light sink tip setups, they follow British Columbia tradition and of course catch a variety of fish!

During this class we will feature the following three patterns:

– The Simple Black General Practitioner (Black GP)
– The Low Water ESL (Egg Sucking Leech)
– The Extra Buggy Grease Liner

These flies have proven them selves to be pure magic on a large variety of sea run fish found through out B.C. They also compliment the larger Intruder Style flies very nicely giving the angler a smaller lighter option for spooky, clear conditions.
