About Your Instructor:

Ben was born in Alberta, Canada and was able to escape the dreaded flat lands on his 19th birthday.

During his childhood his family introduced him to fishing and he's been at it ever since.

When Ben moved to the West Coast he fell in love with fishing the beautiful coastal river for salmon and steelhead. The very first fish that he caught on the coast was a winter-run Steelhead and that is what did it for him.

Ben has worked in a fly shop, tied flies commercially and now owns companies in the industry. There has been a time or two when has done some guiding and still enjoys teaching courses to pass on knowledge to help others tie durable and beautiful flies so they can have the best experience on the water.

Ben has had the chance to fish many places around the globe, Mexico, Cuba, Australia, Christmas Island, and the Maldives, to name a few.

While the flats can be absolutely thrilling, Ben has always enjoyed fishing in his backyard in BC for winter and summer run Steelhead.
